"We wanted to make sure the project did not stop. So we built something that could keep going on its own."

Sister Victoria, Head District Nursing Officer · Muleba, Kagera Region

NJIA Programme Alumna

THE STORY

Sister Victoria, a Head District Nursing Officer based in Muleba, Kagera Region, completed PEPAL's NJIA leadership programme and refused to let the momentum end when funding did. With an initial $5,000 investment, she and her team launched a female-led poultry farm — not as a business in isolation, but as an engine for community health. Within eight months it was generating profit. Those profits now fund HPV vaccination campaigns in 28 local schools, and most recently supported a visit to Kaigara Primary School to provide hygiene essentials and sanitary products to over 150 special needs children.
